About Lolli by reincarnation
Our Story
Lolli by reincarnation is a high-end womens clothing and accessories company. All of our products are hand-cut and hand-sewn with love. We specialize in pieces that are multi-functional, yet offer an element of understated luxury. Only the finest quality materials are used to make a Lolli product.
Based in New York, the designers McCarthy and Simmons began by selling vintage clothing and their own one of a kind designs at the Chelsea flea market on 26th St. and 6th Ave, in Manhattan. They considered this a great experience for their development. Here they met many great designers, models, actresses, and editors. Then, it began raining every weekend for what seemed to be two months. So, they had to figure some other way to remain productive. We came up with the idea to make one-of-a-kind handbags. The company originally named "reincarnation", because they would recreate a vintage piece or use vintage fabrics to create a new item based on their design. They also sold vintage, prints, and their designs to other designers in the industry.
Shortly after they taught themselves how to sew on an antique Singer sewing machine, they created their first handbag line (named Lolli because it is available in 60 colors, like a lollipop) and began to showcase them on Prince St. and Broadway the SOHO district of New York (Summer 2003). They were very tired of seeing bags that were structured, heavy, covered in logos. The result was the signiture Lolli Bag. All of the leather is carefully selected and made of soft Italian, Nappa leather. They received positive feedback while selling in SOHO from designers of major labels, buyers, and fashionistas. They tried out for Henri Bendel's Open Call and received their first order from a Department Store. Shortly after that, other stores began to place orders (Fred Segal Tiara + Bloomingdales e.t.c.). The designers hand sewned 2000 bags on their own before they sought the help of a manufacturer to assist with production. Even today, the designers continue to help in the production process.

The flapship store is located at 85 Stanton St. between Orchard and Allen. When they opened the store, they believed it was important to incorporate vintage and reworked vintage, in addition to products from the Lolli Line. Their mantra is understated luxury and they feel the Lower East Side echoes this philosophy. The store offers the Lolli brands line (clothing + accessories), a handful of re-created vintage items + vintage items, and re-worked antique furniture.
At the Lolli Shop, they strive to create an elegant, comfortable environment for our clients. There are vintage magazines from the 1940's to current for your enjoyment. For the boys, there is the ultimate waiting area, dubbed the Male-Room in the rear of the store, which features a high bird aviary classic video game favorites, sports, toys, and comic books.
